Our Green Promises for Sustainable Development

1. Air Quality & Climate

No More Burning

Rather than burning the rice straw left after harvesting, we collaborate with farmers to collect the post-harvest rice straw to be used for cultivating mushrooms, thus ending a damaging cycle and protecting the community health and environment.

2. Naturally Grown

Chemical-Free

Our mushrooms are grown 100% on rice straw substrate, pasteurized naturally with lime water, nurtured with mineral water and grown without the use of pesticides or other harmful chemicals. We apply the same principles for growing our rice and vegetables naturally and not using any chemicals in the process.

3. Soil Health

Bio-Fertilizer

Soil is the living and life-giving natural resource. Thus, at Fargreen, we go a long way in taking care of the soil to enhance the local environment where we operate. In addition to our naturally grown principle of not introducing chemical fertilizer to the soil, we replenish it with our spent mushroom substrate - our homegrown bio-fertilizer collected after mushroom cultivation. This will in turn help nourish our rice and vegetable crops.

4. Waste Management

Recyclable Growing Kits

Each bucket is filled with the rice straw that we carefully prepare and inoculate with high-quality spores. When the mycelium mature and are almost ready to fruit, we move these buckets to the farmer's growing houses so they can tend to and harvest the mushrooms. After each harvest, these buckets are cleaned to be reused in the next crops. No plastic waste!

5. Infrastructure Integration

No Space Wasted

One of the major goals of our work is to help farmers stay with their land. We integrate their rice paddy, their garden and also the empty spaces within their homes into our model. Maximizing the use of the infrastructure in place also keeps the agricultural land intact for its original farming purposes.

6. Energy Conservation

Solar Power

Our mushrooms are dried by our custom built solar dehydrator. The machine slowly dries using indirect heat set at optimum temperatures depending on the mushroom type, so that they keep their rich flavors and nutrients. Furthermore, during the drying process, mushrooms stay in a well-ventilated box away from insects or other types of contaminants.

7. Farmer Livelihood & Advancement

Working Together

Fargreen integrates into a farming system that’s already in place. This allows us to elevate the system while utilizing it by bringing new techniques and training to farmers to increase their capacity. When we engage with the community we can build the solution together for long term benefits!
